2003 Road Construction Program

 

The following is a list of projects for the upcoming construction season. This list may change or be added to as the season progresses, but these will have the most visibility.

Town Center:
Private contractors and utility companies:

March 31, 2003 to June 30, 2003: Install conduit system at Main, Union, Rockwood Road, Liberty Lane, Independence and North Streets. Remove utility poles.

May 31, 2003 to August 31, 2003: Utilities will be pulling wires through underground conduits and reconnecting services.

September 1, 2003 to October 15, 2003: Federally funded, $2.1 million "TIP" project in the center of town: Street improvements, sidewalks, street furniture, roundabouts at Main & Rockwood and Union, North and Liberty intersections.

If the state does not advertise TIP project so that it can begin in the fall, the Highway Department will be installing a 1" course of bituminous concrete over the excavated areas to maintain a rideable surface until the state project begins in the spring of 2004.

Alice Avenue, Spring Street & Norwell Street Resurfacing Project:

June 1, 2003 to June 30, 2003: Overlay roadway with 1 ½" bituminous concrete. The shoulders will be loamed and seeded.

Boardman Street Drainage Project:

April 7, 2003 to May 9, 2003: Begins at the Creamery Property, through Kid's Place, to the intersection of Main Street at Boardman Street. Kid's Place will be closed for the month of April. Users were asked to use the Pond Street facility, with Kid's Place scheduled to reopen May 1, 2003.

North Street Drainage Project:

June 1, 2003 to June 30, 2003 (May begin in May 2003 if schedule allows) Drainage connection for the area of North Street just before the intersection of Diamond Street coming from Rte 115.

Rockwood Road Project:

April 15, 2003 to October 15, 2003: From the intersection of Cleveland Street to the intersection of Boardman Street. Pole relocation, shoulder site distance work to remove and relocate stonewalls in front of houses #55 and #57. Curbing will be installed at the intersection of Boardman Street and Cleveland Street. There will be areas of drainage that will be connected.

Pondview Road Resurfacing Project:

May 15, 2003 to August 15, 2003: Level and overlay roadway, install berm, overlay sidewalk, drainage connections and loam and seed shoulder areas.

North Street and Union Street at Shear Street. (Wrentham end):

Incidental shoulder work, driveway aprons, stonewalls and drainage to prepare for overlay in 2004.

Noon Hill Area:

Drainage, survey and design.

Rockwood Road and Holbrook Street Water Project:

June 1, 2003 to July 15, 2003: Overlay roadway at the Millis end.
