    Representative Stephen Kulik has asked state representatives to sign a "Dear Colleague" letter to the House Ways & Means Committee requesting the release of, An Act Relative to Establishing Massachusetts Land Conservation Incentives (H.4218), to the House floor for a vote. Please call your state representative, urge him or her to contact Rep. Kulik and sign this letter (if s/he has not yet signed - see list below).

    An Act Relative to Establishing Massachusetts Land Conservation Incentives (H.4218) would create a new tool to increase land and water conservation. H.4218 establishes a new state income tax credit for landowners who donate permanent gifts of land to the state, a town, and nonprofit land trusts. The credit would be based on 50% of the fair market value of the donation, worth up to $50,000, and could be taken over 10 consecutive years. This legislation has been a top priority of the Mass. Land Trust Coalition for several years. See fact sheet: PDF at nature.org

    When you call, introduce yourself by name and where you live. Inform the legislative staff person that you hope your representative will sign Rep. Kulik's letter to support H.4218. Tell them the bill is before the House Ways & Means Committee, and they can contact Rep. Kulik's office to sign the letter. Please thank the staff and your representative for the opportunity.
