King Philip Wins at Giants Stadium
The King Philip High School Marching Band, "The Pride and the Passion," scored a first place victory over four other east coast schools in Group III, Open Class, at the United States Scholastic Band Association- Yamaha All Class Showcase in Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The win came after only one other competition for the band with its the 2003 show, "Any Questions? Music of Leonard Bernstein."
The band finished first a full point ahead of the competition in nearly every judging caption, including: best visual performance, best individual music performance, best ensemble music performance, best music effect, best visual effect, best percussion and best color guard. With an overall score of 82.65, the band placed 2.65 points ahead of its nearest rival Monsignor Farrell High School, Staten Island.
At 7:00 PM, Saturday, October 11, 2003, the King Philip Marching Band will perform in exhibition on their home turf at the King Philip Fall Classic at the high school's Mactaz Field. Six top area bands will compete at the Classic. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and children.
