King Philip Percussion Night
King Philip music students will present Percussion Night at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 12 in the upper gymnasium of King Philip Regional High School. The public is invited, free of charge.
Percussion Night will feature both middle and high school students, including ensemble and solo players in classical, jazz and original works prepared and written by the students themselves.
Included in the program will be a Concerto for Five Bass Drums written by KP senior A.J. Simard: a marimba quintet playing Tchaikovsky; two original compositions by KP freshman Amanda Smith; and solos by Anna Perrelli, A.J. Simard, and Andrew Kim.
The King Philip North students will be featured in Afro-Cuban stylings from the seventh-graders. The eighth-graders will be featured in marching percussion performance.
A large percussion group will perform Dichotomy, and the competitive Marching Percussion Ensemble's show, Obstacles, will also be presented.
