Norfolk Cultural Council Grants
The Norfolk Cultural Council is accepting applications until Oct. 15 for support of community cultural projects and PASS funding, a ticket subsidy program for school-age children, as a result of a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
The Massachusetts Cultural Council is a state agency that supports public programs in the arts, sciences and humanities. As you may know, the Council's budget has been dramatically reduced due to state budget cuts. The Norfolk Cultural Council's budget has been similarly cut. This year's allocation is $2,000, down from over $4500 last year. We tell you this so that you will recognize the impact of the cuts, and so that you will plan your application carefully.
Individuals and organizations may apply for general support - projects such as workshops, lectures, exhibits, festivals, science education and artist projects - or for PASS funding to enable schools and youth groups to take students, pre-K-12, to cultural performances outside of school. The Norfolk Cultural Council awards grants after considering the benefit to the community, the qualifications of the individuals and organizations involved, the planning process, community interest and involvement and the population segments served. Activities must take place in physically accessible facilities.
Applications and detailed guidelines are available at the Office of the Selectmen, Town Hall. They are also available online at http://www.massculturalcouncil.org/. Look for the LLC Application Form or PASS Application Form, depending on your project. Completed forms must be delivered or submitted with a valid postmark by Oct. 15 to the Town Hall.
