Norfolk Community League Gives Back $8550 to the Community
The Board members of the Norfolk Community League (NCL) are pleased to announce the recipients of distributions totaling $8550. The funds were raised this past summer and fall through the annual Community Day Run/Walk, Haunted Train and Hay Rides, Holiday Photo Session, and the Annual Jingle Bell Fun Run. The Haunted Train and Hay Ride was held in conjunction with the Norfolk Lions. The amounts and recipients are:
- $3050 to the Norfolk Police Department for the purchase of a heart defibrillator
- $3400 to the Norfolk Grange for Educational Programs
- $1100 to Norfolk Together to assist Norfolk families in need
- $250 to H. Olive Day School to institute a new school club called Club GLO (Great Learning Opportunities)
- $250 to King Philip North School to help defray the cost of the 8th Grade field trip to Washington, D.C.
- $250 to Norfolk Library to pay for a performance during an upcoming school vacation week
- $250 to Norfolk Girls Softball to help skin a field for use in their program
Norfolk Community League is an organization consisting of over 190 families that dedicates itself to enhancing the quality of life for Norfolk residents, increasing involvement in activities that better the community and to strengthen community spirit. Funds raised during the year are distributed each January and May. Over the past 6 years NCL has distributed in excess of $120,000 to local groups such as the Norfolk Library, Norfolk Fire Department, Norfolk Police Department, H. Olive Day School, Freeman-Centennial School, Council on Aging, college scholarships, Boy and Girl Scouts, YMCA for camp scholarships and area preschools.
