Norfolk Community League Distributes $25,700 to Community
The Board Members of the Norfolk Community League (NCL) are pleased to announce the recipients of distributions totaling $25,700. The funds were primarily raised this past spring through the Spring Charity Gala and Auction. The amounts and recipients are:
$6000 to the Freeman-Centennial School to purchase security equipment;
$2900 to the Norfolk Recreation Department to purchase fencing for the Kid's Place Playground;
$2500 to the Norfolk Fire Department to purchase CPR equipment;
$2500 to the Freeman-Centennial and H. Olive Day Libraries to purchase books;
$1500 to the Norfolk Recreation Department for the Summer Playground;
$1100 to the Norfolk Recreation Department to purchase ground resurfacing material for the Kid's Place Playground;
$1050 to the Norfolk Public Schools to purchase Grade 1 guided reading books;
$1000 to Norfolk Girls Softball to purchase new benches;
$1000 to the Norfolk Cooperative Preschool for their scholarship fund;
$1000 to Norfolk Girls Softball to complete the skinning of their fields;
$800 to the Norfolk Recreation Department to purchase picnic tables for the Pond Street fields;
$600 to Freeman-Centennial School to purchase Resource Teachers/reading program materials;
$600 to the Norfolk Public Library to purchase a museum pass;
$525 to the Freeman-Centennial School to purchase Grade 3 Reading Response Notebooks;
$500 to the Norfolk Fire Department for Education and Training;
$500 to the Norfolk Public Schools to purchase books for the Reading Recovery program;
$500 to the Norfolk Lions as a Norfolk Community Day sponsorship;
$325 to the H. Olive Day School gym to purchase additional supplies for the climbing wall;
$250 to the H. Olive Day School to help purchase blinds for the Art Room;
$250 to the Norfolk Cub Scouts Pack 80 to purchase a speaker and microphone;
$200 to Boy Scout Troop 80 to help purchase a printer;
$100 to the Friends of the Council on Aging Life Line Emergency Response System fund.
Norfolk Community League is an organization consisting of approximately 200 families that dedicates itself to enhancing the quality of life for Norfolk residents, increasing community involvement in activities that better our community and strengthening community spirit. Funds raised during the year are distributed each January and May. Over the past 7 years, NCL has distributed in excess of $120,000 to local groups and causes such as the Norfolk Library, Norfolk Fire Department, Norfolk Police Department, H. Olive Day School, Freeman-Centennial School, Council on Aging, college scholarships, Boy and Girl Scouts, and area preschools.
