The Norfolk Lions approved, at their January Board of Directors meeting, contributions to several worthy causes.

In support of Representative Scott Brown's request to support his New Years Day Run to help provide a wheelchair for a Norfolk resident with a rare muscular disease, Norfolk Lions donated $1000.

In support of the Norfolk Fire Department's fund raiser to purchase a Thermal Imaging System, which will allow Firemen to see in a smoke filled environment; Norfolk Lions donated another $400. This money was raised by the Lions at the Norfolk Library Book sale through the sale of refreshments.

In conjunction with the Norfolk Lions Christmas Tree Sale, Norfolk Lions donated $500 to the Federated Church for the use of their grounds and $300 to the Norfolk Garden Club for the wreaths they made to be sold at our event.

The Norfolk Lions also donated $750 to the Franklin YMCA to support their summer camping program, so that three Norfolk children can attend camp this coming summer that might not be able to afford the expense. The Norfolk Lions also made an initial yearly donation of $2500 to the Lions Eye Research Foundation, which is a Lion's Statewide charity that funds Eye Research efforts in Massachusetts the are focused on preventing or curing blindness.
