The Norfolk Community Day 2002 Committee has put the final touches on a plan that expands Community Day activities planned for June 8th at Holmes Transportation property on Myrtle Street in Norfolk.

One of the new features of Community Day is community service program called CHIP, Child Identification Program. This is a program put on by the Norfolk Lions in conjunction with the Masons, Mass Crime Prevention Officers Association and the Mass Dental Society. Unfortunately we live in a time where over 1,000,000 children are reported missing each year.

This program is intended to help parents whose children have been abducted, to provide Police with information that could aid in the process to recover the child. This program is offered free to the public and takes only a few minutes of your time. Your child will be fingerprinted, have a Tooth print taken to record the identifying characteristics of a child's teeth, and videotaped being interviewed, so as to capture the appearance, speech, mannerisms and other personal characteristics of the child. Each of these valuable tools of identification will be packaged for the parent to take home and hopefully never have to use.

This service will be offered from 10AM till 2PM on the second floor of the Holmes Transportation Building. Please come early to get in line, we will do as many children as we can in this 4 hour period. There is no cost to the family for this service.

Norfolk Community Day is the premier Norfolk Lions community service project each year. Community Day is our way of giving back to the community that has been so generous in supporting our fund raising activities for those less fortunate than ourselves. The Norfolk Lions have served Norfolk since October 1958 and if you are interested in learning more about Lions, contact John Wason @508-528-8526 or jwason@attbi.com, or speak to any one of the many Lions Members present at this community event!
