Recent headlines confirm that the problems for families in hurricane ravaged Louisiana are getting worse. The federal government confirmed that 600 million dollars earmarked for housing reconstruction will be diverted to fund port improvement projects. Many families are still paying insurance and taxes on houses that have been unlivable since Hurricane Katrina. There is still much to be done - and a local church is headed back to Louisiana to do their part in the reconstruction effort.

Members of The Federated Church of Norfolk will be joining members of First Church of Marlboro on a volunteer rebuilding trip to Metorie, Louisiana, from February 23rd through March 1st. This is the second year that church members from these congregations have joined together to travel to Louisiana to lend their time, talent and treasure to families in distress. Working through the Good Shepard Church in Metorie, LA., FCON members - Pastor Scott Cousineau, Justine King and Carol Greene will assist in removal of debris and interior demolition of homes that were nearly destroyed during the hurricane.

Local support is greatly needed to help volunteers fund a rebuilding effort. Gift cards to Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart or Sears would be greatly appreciated.
