Norfolk Community Day 2009

Community Day is approaching faster than a mosquito at a cookout and the Norfolk Lions Community Day team is excited about this day that celebrates what makes Norfolk a great place to live. Now, we just need Mother Nature to cooperate..! Our theme this year is "Old Tyme Day".

We are pleased to bring in some new entertainers including performances by local American Idol finalist Ayla Brown and the Ocean State Barbershop Chorus. We are also thankful to Peter Tileston and his award winning Jazz Band at KPHS for providing entertainment on a hectic weekend for seniors and school personnel with graduation on Sunday. Also, back again is Kathy Ryan's Step Above Dance Troupe who have been with us for 17 years. Last but not least, the Norfolk Cultural Council has brought Henry the Juggler back to entertain us throughout the day.

The day of course starts off with the Norfolk Communty League's Road Race at 9am. Community Day officially begins at 11:30am and runs until 4:00pm with a number of local organizations setting up booths to provide food, fun and games. All of this takes place at the Holmes' Transportation Complex on 22 Myrtle Street in Norfolk.
