Dear Selectmen,
Frank Foss stopped in this morning to go over the planned transition to the fiber optic system schedule for tonight. Please note:
- The cut-over to the fiber system will begin at 12:00 AM, Thursday.
- CATV services will be out town-wide for at least one hour at that time. There will be NO signal.
- The new channel line-up will be in place as the system comes back on-line. Channels will come back one at a time.
- It will take approximately 24 hours for the system to become fully operational. Frank is hopeful everything will be done by 10 AM, Thursday.
- AT&T will have 31 crews in town tonight. There will be one crew for each node. There will be significant activity in town tonight with trucks and crews!
- CATV services will be restored in order with node #1 (hub at police/fire station) being done first. Node 31 will be the last done.
- Picture quality problems may be an issue for 1-2 weeks
- Persons with the 400 MHZ cable boxes will only get channel 5. There are approximately 200 such boxes in town. AT&T asks residents to trade these in at either Foxboro or Walpole.
- All premium service such as HBO or adult programs will be disabled.
- Persons experiencing CATV problems should contact AT&T customer service 888-633-4266.
- Frank is available to handle special problems or customer service questions that can not be resolved via the number listed above. Frank's number is 508-543-9022 x-9022.
- The BOS office has a copy of the new channel line up. We will leave a message on our phone system tonight advising residents of what is happening if they call during non-business hours. NCTV may want to do the same. The police will be notified in case they receive calls too.
