Norfolk Municipal GolfThis link used to point to the Golfcourse Study Committee web site. Now it tries to explain what happened to that information.
The Selectmen of the Town of Norfolk authorized a Committee to study the feasibility of building a municipal golf course. The Golf Study Committee eventually got its own web page, provided and constructed by town hall for the purpose of improving communication between the committee and the public. Once the golf committee page was up, several reports and documents were made avaiable on-line, along with miscellaneous minor writeups.
Once it was obvious that the proposed venture would not break even financially, the golf committee's work was suspended, and the page was taken down - without notice, along with all its former contents. The public information that was made available on the site is no longer accessible; these included the on-line versions of reports submitted by consultants about environmental and ecologic conditions on the Buckley-Mann property.
We regret the loss of public information, and apologize for the inconvenience.
Update 5/29/02: The golf course bond authorization was officially rescinded by majority vote at 2002 Spring Town Meeting.
People looking to play some golf in Norfolk can still go to Fore Kicks (by Rtes. 115 / 1A), which offers a 9-hole par-3 executive course, and Walpole is looking into building both a 9-hole and an 18-hole course right next-door.
